The Government and DFC Discuss Encouraging Investment in Palestine

Ramallah-(BNEWS)- Minister of National Economy Khaled Osaily and CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Scott Nathan discussed, areas of joint cooperation to encourage investment in Palestine. 
 
During the meeting, which was held at the Ministry's headquarters, with the participation of the Prime Minister's advisor, Estephan Salameh and representatives of the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the two sides reviewed the available investment opportunities in Palestine, especially in the sectors of industry, agriculture, information technology, renewable energy, recycling and others. 
 
The minister referred to the incentives and easements offered by the Palestinian government to investors, in addition to the reform program it is implementing in the field of developing and improving the legislative environment regulating the Palestinian economy, the latest of which is the adoption of a modern law for companies in accordance with international best practices and the development of the investment encouragement law. 
  
The minister considered the key to economic development in Palestine lies in the areas called (C), which the occupation prevents citizens from accessing and investing in, especially as these areas are rich in natural resources and constitute the strategic reserve of the Palestinian economy. 
 
The minister highlighted the government’s efforts to expand the production base through the development and operation of industrial zones, reliance on renewable energy, and the transition to a digital and green economy, which calls for the support of international partners for these efforts. 
 
The U.S. side showed interest in studying the ideas and proposals that were discussed and working to enhance joint cooperation, stressing the role played by the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation in developing the economy from the financial and technical aspects. 
 
It is worth noting that the Palestinian government and its American counterpart held the fourth Palestinian-American dialogue (USPED) in November 2022, and a mechanism for joint cooperation was agreed upon.
