Bethlehem-(BNEWS)- As part of its corporate social responsibility and its strategy to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by supporting relevant initiatives during 2025, the Bank of Jordan has signed a cooperation agreement with the Joint Service Council for Solid Waste Management for the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates in the southern West Bank. The agreement involves supporting the purchase and distribution of green plastic bins in villages and towns of the two governorates at a value of $77,500.

The agreement was signed by the CEO of the Bank of Jordan branches in Palestine and the Chairman of the Joint Service Council for Solid Waste Management for the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates, during a ceremony held at the council's headquarters in the village of Al-Minya, southeast of Bethlehem, in the presence of representatives from both sides.

Through the agreement, the Bank of Jordan will contribute to the provision of 1,800 environmentally friendly green plastic bins with a capacity of 240 liters each, to be distributed in towns and villages across the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates.

The CEO of the Bank of Jordan branches in Palestine affirmed that this agreement is part of a strategy that responds to the essential needs of the community and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals. He noted that the Bank of Jordan continues to strengthen strategic partnerships with local community institutions in the West Bank by empowering them to improve the services they provide to citizens. This follows the bank’s implementation of a multi-faceted relief umbrella program supporting the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

He welcomed the strategic partnership with the Joint Service Council for Solid Waste Management for Hebron and Bethlehem governorates, explaining that the bank's contribution to purchasing green plastic bins supports the achievement of three Sustainable Development Goals: "Good Health and Well-being," "Climate Action," and "Partnerships for the Goals."

He also praised the efforts made by the council in serving the local community in both governorates through a series of quality projects that benefit nearly one million citizens.

For his part, the Chairman of the Council expressed pride in the partnership with the Bank of Jordan, noting that it will positively impact the services provided by the council to citizens. He explained that the purchase and distribution of green plastic bins in towns and villages will significantly help reduce the accumulation and random piling of waste in streets and alleys, facilitate its collection, and thus greatly reduce environmental imbalance, preserve the natural beauty, improve health conditions, and reduce groundwater pollution.

He also reviewed the services provided by the Joint Council in terms of managing and operating the Al-Minya landfill, transfer stations, medical waste collection and disposal, and other services.

It is worth mentioning that the Bank of Jordan is one of the first financial institutions to establish a presence in Palestine after 1994. The bank provides distinguished and advanced banking services, targeting a wide range of Palestinian sectors and contributing to the support and development of the local economy.
